»When it comes to compliance, personal contact is the most effective tool!« Manuela Mackert, CCO Deutsche Telekom AG

In collaboration with the ›Konstanz Institute of Corporate Governance‹, Martin et Karczinski has published a quite exceptional book: the Chief Compliance Officers from 64 listed companies are interviewed in the study.

In the light of repeated scandals and the associated loss of image and trust, integrity management has become an important key to controlling the future. The 144 pages of ›communication potential‹ read as grippingly as a crime novel, not just because of the interviews with compliance managers in companies such as Adidas, Siemens and Deutsche Telekom. The authors also successfully and logically identify success factors for functional compliance. These include high quality training programmes attended by senior management representatives as well as employees in sensitive roles. The second success factor is to make compliance part of line management for senior staff (›Tone from the top‹). The third success factor is the core of all functioning compliance: communication. »Integrity management only works in combination with different communication tools and channels«, summarises Professor Stephan Grüninger of the Konstanz Institute for Corporate Governance. »The study shows that compliance is communicated across brands and so can bring with it opportunities to promote employee identification within organisations,« adds Daniel Karczinski (Martin et Karczinski). »We see this outcome confirmed in our day-to-day compliance work, for example with AUDI AG«.
